Print Story: Bougainvillea

Decorated with dainty flowers and vibrant palm leaves, our Bougainvillea print is a summer staple perfect for any patio or dining room. Developed by French artist Bruno Lamy, the print is said to evoke feelings of paradise and an easy life by the sea. A bold palette of blues, reds and greens and handmade details make each piece of this beautiful fabric unique.  We sat down with Couleur Nature CEO Gaura Tibbitts to learn more about the sea-inspired design.

What was the inspiration behind Bougainvillea?

Gaura Tibbitts: It’s named for a plant that is found throughout the Mediterranean region; that’s the idea behind most of our prints.  You think of the sun, outdoors, entertaining; it’s about enjoying nature and enjoying that with family.

How does the print compliment the Couleur Nature brand?

GT: Generally most of our designs are either floral and botanical or fruit based and they generally tend to come from the south of France.  We’re always inspired by those regions of the world and its natural vegetation. When we eat and dine out, that’s what we’re surrounded by.

How can customers pair Bougainvillea with other products?

GT: It’s a print you would want to bring out for spring and summer entertaining; you can mix and match with both prints and solids.  It doesn’t need to match, it just needs to look beautiful together essentially.
